The 2021 State of Origin is just around the corner and tickets are selling fast for the series opener happening in Townsville. It’s time to bust out your love for blue or maroon. Will the Maroons be victorious? Or will the Blues outsmart their rivals? 

Anticipation and excitement are beyond comprehension, as the shocking loss by the NSW Blues in 2020 will see a more aggressive play as they become desperate to win back their title. 

2021 State of Origin Dates

Game 1 of the Ampol State of Origin is happening on Wednesday 9 June at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville, Queensland. Kickoff is scheduled at 8.10pm AEST.

Game 2 takes place on Sunday 27 June at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland. Kickoff is scheduled at 7.50pm AEST.

Game 3 is happening on Wednesday 14 July at Stadium Australia in Sydney, New South Wales. Kickoff is scheduled at 8.10pm AEST.

As these are just scheduled kickoffs, the game may happen earlier or later, depending on the pregame live performances. In any event, broadcasting coverage typically begins an hour before kickoff.

Live performances announced at the State of Origin 

Game 1 has an awesome line up of live entertainment, featuring The Veronicas – one of Australia’s most popular artists that made the world scene.

Game 2 will have Sheppard playing live – an indie pop band with roots in Brisbane. With hit songs such as Geronimo and Coming Home, the crowd will definitely be rocking out to this performance.

Game 3 features Lime Cordiale and JK47.

How to watch the 2021 State of Origin

If you aren’t attending the State of Origin in person, you’ll definitely want to know how you can tune into the match live.

Broadcasting live nationally on 9Now and Nine Network, and Sky Sport in New Zealand, or WatchNRL for an international tune in. Pacific regions can tune in on Fox Sports 2 US, Sky UK, Fox Sports Asia, and more.

2021 State of Origin Game 1 Schedule

The anticipated schedule is as follows:

  • 6pm is when corporate gates open.
  • 6.30pm is when the gate are open to the general public.
  • 7.35pm is roughly when live entertainment starts.
  • 8.10pm is when the kickoff happens with the Queensland Maroons rivalling the NSW Blues.
  • 8.55pm is half time.
  • 9.11pm is the second half.
  • 9.56pm is full time (without taking into account any added time or delays in the match).

The Women’s 2021 State of Origin

The Women's 2021 State of Origin will be clashing this Friday 25 June at the Sunshine Coast Stadium, Queensland, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm. You can catch the game live on 9Now, Nine Network, and the NRL app.
